Connect Start and End Points for Seamless Loop Creation
The Close Path function joins the start and end points of a shape by adding a connecting line. This creates a closed loop, which is essential for several functions in LightBurn, such as Fill Mode.
Where to Find Close Path
- Menu Location: Edit → Close Path
How Close Path Works
When applied, Close Path creates a line between the start and end points of a path to form a closed shape. This is particularly useful for designs requiring closed loops, as open shapes with unconnected endpoints cannot be used with certain LightBurn features.
Using Close Path
- Select the shapes you want to close.
- Navigate to Edit → Close Path.
Notes:
- You can close multiple paths simultaneously.
- Close Path will only work if the shape is fully connected, except for the gap between its start and end nodes.
- The start and end nodes must be within 0.5 mm of each other to be closed using this tool.
Limitations
- Close Path cannot merge completely separate paths that each have their own start and end points.
- For gaps larger than 0.5 mm, use the Close Selected Paths with Tolerance tool instead.
With Close Path, you can quickly convert open shapes into closed loops, ensuring compatibility with advanced LightBurn features like Fill Mode. Make this tool a part of your design workflow for more efficient path editing.
