Installing the Galvo Driver for Windows

Overview Galvo Driver Installation

To use a Galvo laser with Windows and LightBurn, you must install the correct driver. This guide explains how to ensure the driver is properly installed during or after LightBurn installation. If necessary, it also provides instructions for switching back to the EZCAD2 driver.


Driver Installation Steps

During LightBurn Installation:

  1. Run the LightBurn installer.
  2. On the final screen, check the box labeled Install EZCAD2 Driver.
  3. Complete the installation.

    • Windows may prompt you for permission to install the driver. Grant the permissions to proceed.

After Installation:

If you skipped the driver installation during the initial setup:

  1. Rerun the LightBurn installer.
  2. Select Install EZCAD2 Driver and complete the process.

Manual Installation:

  1. Navigate to:
    C:\Program Files\LightBurn\EzCad2Driver\
  2. Run the file dpinst-x64.exe to install the driver manually.
  3. Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the setup.

Verifying Driver Installation

To confirm the driver installation:

  1. Open Device Manager (press Win + X and select Device Manager).
  2. Locate the device under Universal Serial Bus devices:
    • Before installation: The laser appears as a BJJCZ Device.
    • After installation: The laser should appear as USBLMCV2, USBLMCV4, or a similar name.

Example Views:

  • Before Installation: The device is listed as "BJJCZ Device."

Restoring the EZCAD Driver (Legacy Users)

If you need to switch back to the EZCAD2 driver:

  1. Uninstall the current driver using Device Manager.
  2. Reinstall the original EZCAD2 driver by running the LightBurn installer and deselecting the custom driver option.

Notes for macOS Users

macOS does not require any drivers to connect to a Galvo laser. This guide applies only to Windows users.
