Navigate Your Workspace with Precision and Ease

Efficient navigation in your Workspace is essential for precise design and editing. By mastering Zooming and Panning, you can adjust your view to focus on fine details or take in the entire composition with ease. Here's how you can make the most of these essential tools.


Zooming

Zooming allows you to adjust the visible area of your Workspace for better focus and control.

  • Zooming In helps you work on intricate details.
  • Zooming Out gives you a broader view of your overall design.

How to Zoom In and Out

The easiest way to zoom is by using your mouse or trackpad:

  • Mouse: Roll the scroll wheel forward to Zoom In and backward to Zoom Out.
  • Trackpad: Slide two fingers forward to Zoom In and backward to Zoom Out.

To reverse the default zoom direction, go to:
File → Settings (or LightBurn → Preferences on Mac) and enable Invert mouse wheel zoom direction.

What Does "In Focus" Mean?

When a window or toolbar is clicked on, it is "in focus" and ready to accept input. If another window is in focus, click anywhere in the Workspace to bring it back into focus.

Additional Zoom Features

  • Zoom to Page:
    Quickly fit your entire Workspace on screen.

    • Navigate to Window → Zoom to Page.
    • Use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl / Cmd + 0.
    • Click the "Zoom to Page" button in the Main Toolbar.

  • Frame Selection:
    Adjust your view to focus on a selected element.

    • Navigate to Window → Frame Selection.
    • Use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl / Cmd + Shift + A.
    • Click the "Frame Selection" button in the Main Toolbar.

Panning

Panning lets you slide your view across the Workspace, moving the visible area without zooming.

How to Enable Panning

  • Main Toolbar: Click the Pan/Drag View Icon-PanDrag icon.
  • Mouse: Press and hold the middle mouse button, then move your mouse.
  • Keyboard: Hold down the Space key.

When Panning mode is active, the cursor changes to a hand icon. You can then click and drag to reposition the view.

To exit Panning mode:

  • Press the Esc key.
  • Enable any other tool.

By combining Zooming and Panning techniques, you can navigate your Workspace efficiently, ensuring precision and ease in all your design and editing tasks.
