Triple Outlining and Inserting a Logo

Introduction

In this chapter, we'll guide you through the step-by-step process of creating patterns and integrating them into outlines using LightBurn. Let's get started.

Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1: Importing the Outline Shape

To begin, launch the LightBurn software on your computer and ensure your galvo fiber laser system is properly connected. Import the outline you want to use into LightBurn or follow the outlining lesson to create your outline in LightBurn. Select the outline shape and make sure its color layer is set to line mode.

Step 2: Creating the Triple Outline

Click on the Offset Shapes tool on the left-hand toolbar, select the inward option, click the outer shapes only, and select resulting objects. Adjust the offset distance value as needed and click OK. This finalizes the first offset line, which will be selected automatically. Click Offset Shapes again and repeat these steps for the third line. After this, your innermost outline will be selected. Click the 03 Green Square in the color palette at the bottom of your screen to change the innermost outline to a green color. In the Cuts and Layers window, change 03 Green Layer to Fill mode to make it easier to select.

Step 3: Importing a Pattern

Click on the File menu and select Import. In the Import window, click on the pattern you want to use, then click the Open button.

Step 4: Fitting the Pattern Inside the Outline

Size and position the pattern to fit within the green inner outline as desired. Change the layer that the pattern is on to Fill mode in the Cuts and Layers window. Shift-click the 03 Green Layer in the Cuts and Layers window, then shift-click the pattern. Click the Intersection button on the left-hand toolbar or use Alt + * to trim the pattern to fit the outline.

Conclusion

Congratulations! You have successfully learned how to create a triple outline and insert a pattern into it using LightBurn for galvo fiber lasers specifically designed for San Antonio Laser. Happy laser engraving!
