Clipboard tools are essential for managing objects in your Workspace. They allow you to copy, insert, remove, duplicate, and transfer graphics seamlessly within and outside LightBurn. Here's how to make the most of these versatile tools.


Overview of Clipboard Commands

  • Access Points:
    • Edit Menu
    • Main Toolbar
    • Hotkeys
    • Context Menu: Right-click in your Workspace.
  • How It Works:
    Your computer's clipboard acts as temporary storage for copied or cut items, enabling you to paste them elsewhere in your project or into other applications.

Clipboard Commands

Copy Icon-Copy-1

Shortcut: Ctrl + C (Windows) or Cmd + C (Mac)

  • Saves a copy of the selected objects to your clipboard without removing them from your Workspace.

Cut Icon-Cut-1

Shortcut: Ctrl + X (Windows) or Cmd + X (Mac)

  • Removes selected objects from your Workspace while saving them to your clipboard.

Duplicate

Shortcut: Ctrl + D (Windows) or Cmd + D (Mac)

  • Creates an identical copy of the selected objects, placing the duplicate directly on top of the original.

Paste Icon-Paste-1

Shortcut: Ctrl + V (Windows) or Cmd + V (Mac)

  • Inserts objects stored on your clipboard into your Workspace. The pasted objects will appear centered at the location of your cursor at the time of pasting.

Drag-and-Drop: You can also drag objects directly into LightBurn for immediate placement.


Paste in Place

Shortcut: Alt + V (Windows) or Option + V (Mac)

  • Inserts objects from your clipboard into your Workspace, maintaining their original positions from the source project.

Delete Icon-Delete-1

Shortcut: Del

  • Permanently removes the selected objects from your Workspace.

Troubleshooting Clipboard Tools

By default, LightBurn uses your system's clipboard for copying and pasting. If you encounter performance issues, you can disable this feature:

  1. Go to Settings/Preferences.
  2. Disable Use System Clipboard.

Note:

  • Disabling the system clipboard will improve performance but restrict your ability to copy and paste between LightBurn and other programs or between LightBurn windows.
