Overview System Locked and Floating License Setup
Follow this detailed guide to calibrate and align your WeCreat Vision camera with LightBurn. These instructions are specifically for users with WeCreat Vision lasers. If you have a different camera or laser system, refer to the standard camera calibration and alignment guide.
Important Notes:
- LightBurn Compatibility: The latest compatible version for WeCreat cameras is 1.7.01. If you’re using a newer version, download 1.7.01 here.
- WeCreat Firmware: Ensure your firmware is version 2.0.24 or later. Update via WeCreat MakeIt by navigating to Settings → Firmware → Check for Updates.
Preparation
To begin, gather the following:
- WeCreat Firmware: Version 2.0.24 or later.
- LightBurn Software: Version 1.7.00 or later.
- WeCreat Device Profile: Import the
.lbdev
file provided by WeCreat. Download here. - Material: At least 200 mm x 200 mm (approximately 8" square).
Steps to Calibrate and Align the Camera

Select the WeCreat Device:
- Open the Laser Window and select the WeCreat device from the dropdown menu.

Verify Camera Connection:
- Open the Camera Control Window. Ensure it displays an image from the WeCreat camera.

Calibrate the Camera Lens:
- Right-click in the Camera Control Window and select Calibrate Camera Lens.
- In the Lens Calibration Wizard, select the WeCreat camera and choose:
(None - precalibrated camera)
from the Use Preset dropdown.
- Click Next.

Align the Camera:
- In the Camera Alignment Wizard, ensure the WeCreat camera is selected.
- If your laser is focused, proceed. Otherwise:
- Use the Move Window controls to jog your laser over the material.
- Press Focus Z (requires firmware version 2.0.24 or later).

Open Camera Alignment Wizard:
- Right-click in the Camera Control Window or go to Laser Tools → Calibrate Camera Alignment.

Set Alignment Pattern Size:
- Choose between:
- Fit Workspace: Scales the pattern to fit the laser’s working area.
- 100% Scale: Prints a standard-sized pattern (~A4 or US letter size).
- Enter appropriate Speed and Power settings based on your laser model:
- For the 20W model: 3000 mm/min, 30% power.
- Adjust for the 40W model (lower power or higher speed).

Frame and Engrave the Pattern:
- Press Frame to verify the engraving area aligns with your material.
- Start the engraving process.

Complete Alignment:
- Once engraved, click Home in the Laser Window to return the laser to its top Z position.
- Reopen the Camera Calibration Wizard.

Tag Alignment Targets:
- In the Camera Calibration Wizard:
- Capture the image.
- Tag the four numbered targets (1, 2, 3, 4) by double-clicking their centers.
- Adjust the red "+" marker as needed using the Undo Last option.

Finalize Alignment:
- After tagging all targets, click Next and Finish.

Update Overlay:
- Click Update Overlay in the Camera Control Window to capture an overlay of your workspace.
- Ensure your laser is at its top Z height to avoid misaligned overlays.
Tips and Warnings:
- Firmware Updates: Always keep your firmware updated to access the latest features.
- Units: Be mindful of units—WeCreat uses mm/second, not mm/minute.
- Material Settings: Adjust Speed and Power values based on your material and laser model.
- Alignment Accuracy: Ensure precise tagging of targets for optimal calibration.
