Workspace and Edit Window in LightBurn

Customizing and Navigating LightBurn’s Workspace

The Workspace or Edit Window in LightBurn is the primary area where you design, arrange, and modify artwork. It reflects the machine-specific laser cutting and marking area, ensuring precise alignment and project setup.

Machines equipped with a camera can overlay the captured machine workspace onto the grid, providing a visual guide for accurate artwork positioning.

Key Features of the Workspace

  • Machine-Specific Configuration:
The Workspace automatically adjusts to match your laser’s cutting and marking area.
  • Artwork Processing:
Objects within the Workspace are processed based on user-defined operations configured through the Color Palette, Cuts/Layers Window, and Cut Settings Editor.

Advanced Workspace Customization

LightBurn Camera Integration

For machines with a camera, LightBurn can capture an image of the laser’s working area and display it as the Workspace background. This feature enhances alignment and positioning of artwork relative to the material.

Tool Layers for Material Representation

Alternatively, you can use the Tool Layer feature to represent the material within the Workspace. This allows for precise alignment and framing using LightBurn’s design tools.
